Macau Casinos Woos Locals With Non-Gaming Offers

macau casinosMacau’s six gaming operators have come together to launch a unique program for Macau residents called ‘Macau Loves Locals’.

This unique first-ever campaign for locals is a corporate social responsibility initiative under which the operators are giving Macau residents special deals and offers on non-gaming facilities on their integrated casinos in the city.

The offers are available to both permanent and non-permanent residents of Macau and will run from February 23 to Mar 31, 2016. The campaign has confirmed participation from 28 hotel brands, 186 restaurants, 18 spas and gyms and other major attractions of the six gaming operators.

Macau SAR Government has given the initiative its support, saying it is a unique opportunity for the focus to be on the non-gaming features of Macau’s casinos. It also ties into the government’s efforts to diversify Macau’s appeal and move away from gambling-focused tourism.

In a statement Lionel Leong Vai Tac, Macao SAR Secretary for Economy and Finance said,

I am very pleased to see the six operators supporting government directions and coming together for this first-of-its-kind campaign. This joint promotion gives Macao locals the opportunity to enjoy unprecedented special offers on a wide range of non-gaming offerings which include hotel accommodation, entertainment and dining for a limited period, rewarding them with this promotion while at the same time promoting the development of the non-gaming sector in the city.

As a part of the Macau Loves Locals campaign, the operators will be offering special promotions on Michelin-starred world-famous restaurants, family-friendly shows and entertainment, award-winning luxury hotel rooms, exclusive spas among other non-gaming facilities. The discounts are expected to range from 20 to 50 percent.

The operators hope to showcase the gamut of their non-gaming facilities to the locals with this campaign and share their successes with them.

Kevin Kelley, chief operating officer of Galaxy Entertainment Group hoped that Macau’s residents would have a fantastic experience at their properties and then go on to share their experiences in the non-gaming sector. Grant Bowie, the chief executive officer and executive director of MGM China stated that Macau’s locals have not really had the chance to fully appreciate the international quality of city’s non-gaming amenities and facilities and this new campaign was a great opportunity for them to get to experience something new.

The President of Sands China, Dr Wilfred Wong said that his casino-resort will offer discounts on concert tickets, ten of its hotels, ferry tickets and other family friendly activities such as gondola rides. A host of free prizes and vouchers such as free gondola ride tickets and free DreamWorks character breakfasts are also on offer.
